Iron Maiden: 50 years of heavy metal history

Founded in London in 1975, Iron Maiden has become much more than just a metal band. With 17 studio albums and hundreds of legendary concerts, the band has embodied the power and creativity of the heavy metal movement for five decades.

  • In 1980, their first album launched their rise to fame.
  • In 1982, The Number of the Beast and the arrival of Bruce Dickinson ushered in a golden era.
  • The 1980s were marked by legendary concerts such as Live After Death and Donington 1988.

The band’s trademark? Sharp riffs, impressive theatricality, and an unwavering commitment to their audience.

An uncompromising global career

Iron Maiden has always stood out for its boldness. In the midst of the Cold War, they played behind the Iron Curtain in Poland in 1984. In 2016, they performed in China for the first time, proving that their music appeals to the whole world.

In the 1990s, a difficult period for metal, they refused to give in to trends and continued on their path. The return of Bruce Dickinson and Adrian Smith in 1999 marked the beginning of a new golden age, with acclaimed albums and renewed energy on stage.

Cult albums and extraordinary shows

Over the past two decades, Iron Maiden has created albums that have left their mark on an entire generation of fans:

  • Brave New World (2000) ushered in a new creative era.
  • Dance of Death (2003) and A Matter of Life and Death (2006) cemented their importance in the global music landscape.
  • The Book of Souls (2015), their first double album, confirmed that their ambition remained unchanged.
  • Senjutsu (2021), ranked number one in 27 countries, proves that their creativity is intact after a 50-year career.

Their Legacy of the Beast Tour in 2018 was memorable for its monumental stage design, while The Future Past Tour (2023-2024) showcased new songs and brought their classics back to life.

The Run For Your Lives Tour

With Run For Your Lives (2025-2026), Iron Maiden offers an even richer experience. Alongside the tour, an official book and documentary recount the band’s legendary history. Each concert is designed as a celebration, combining pyrotechnics, spectacular sets, and communion with huge crowds.

The concert at Paris La Défense Arena on June 22, 2026, promises to be one of the highlights of the tour, bringing together fans from all over France and Europe for a unique heavy metal ritual.
